Ottawa’s Suds Buds & Windmills: Who Are We?
The Ottawa Suds Buds & Windmills (SBW) was established in 2010. At the time of its creation, the main goal was to provide co-ed opportunities to play safe recreational-level softball.
Now SBW has grown into a miniature league, playing softball while also adding Futsal, Volleyball and Ball Hockey to its roster. SBW also organizes annual softball tournaments, events and charity outreaches in the Ottawa region.
SBW continues to foster new friendships and provides new experiences to young Ottawa adults to play and grow as a team.
Over the years, SBW has grown and learned with the help of its sponsors:
Broadhead Brewery,
Northern Phenix,
Southbank Dodge,
Dinardo's Ski.Bike.Hike and
Katimavic Massage Therapy.
So first game on Wednesday was a game in which I dunno if it counted or was only for fun but w/e we all came out & played well.
The offence came out swinging, runs were scored mostly every inning and i’m pretty sure at one point we got to a double digit lead. MC and Emily got great hits, JT also smashed his way on base with a couple of hits...

On a brisk night, SBW took to the field up against Maybe Next Year. However, the team wasn’t ready to wait til next year to qualify for Champ’s Night. With a quick 2 runs in the home half of the SBW inning, the team got off to a 2-0 start.
Throughout the game, some epic defence wa...

In our next game, we saw a battle of undefeated teams as SBW faced off against DB, as well as the season goalie debut for Claude Blondeau. DB would open the scoring a minute in as Gabriel Grimard would get a pass from the goalie and wristed it home. A few minutes later Jake Miron would bang home a rebound in front...

After a fun scrimmage game in game 1, the team hit the diamond for a showdown with Lily and the Dicks for the second of a triple header night.
The game started off with a quick 6 run inning for the opponents but that didn’t bring down team morale.
The team rallied with 2 runs of our...

The reschedule game one came as a late night double header edition. The weather warmed up and the rain was holding off. With the timeslot off between games it was a little cold to get back into things...

In our next game we saw SBW taking on TG in a fairly even match-up. Alex Paquette warned the Buds how this team was filled with evil goons straight out of a hockey movie that Krystle may or may not have adored. SBW would strike first, just thirty seconds into the game, as Jake Miron would blast it in from the point...

Well. That was… interesting? I’m not too sure what to write as the game, as a whole, was abysmal. At the end of the day, we all got to get out and play together as a team.
There was something worth mentioning, though… Guys! Isabelle came to watch!!! How amazing is it that she has made enough progress to leave the hospital and come join us at the diamond?!...

It was a perfect night for a softball game, a cool 14 degrees, against TREACHEROUS TURTLES. We won the game, however it wasn’t a promising start. No runs in for SBW 1st and 2nd inning while TT were up by 3. Thom had a near catch at 2nd. But as Eric always says “if it touched your glove, you should have caught it!” Wise words from a wise man.
Frank got...

The game started off on an interesting foot, some might say the left food at Matt decided to hit a solo jack to start the game. As jerky as it was, it started a rally that saw 7 runs come in. By the second inning SBW were up 12-1...
