How does my friend join?
We no longer allow individuals to register themselves or just show up. In order to register ensure you send the persons full name and email to a Captain or Core Club member. Following this if they want to sport they must complete any necessary waivers. Everything we do, events, hiking, dinner clubs, travel, sports is invitation only. We are welcoming to all new members but we want to ensure we maintain our positive and safe environment, thus register the new players with a core member.
Once the new person is registered it’s up to them to follow us on socials and read the FAQ to get caught up.
How does in or out work?
Full time players: Each week you visit the game page for your league/seasons team and click either the green button that says in, or the red button that says out. Game pages lock at noon before all game days. No response is considered an out and players will be replaced. Game pages are also locked two weeks away, you’re able to say “out” for a game over 14 days away however you’re no able to say in, until the two week window opens. This was implemented when players clicked “in , in , in” for every game and all season, and obviously that was not the case.
If you know you’re out for sure, go to that game and say out. Vacation in three weeks, let us know now.
Spares/or another night you don’t play on: The week of the game, go and mark “can spare” on the page. There are again two large buttons, green for in and red for out. A core club member will confirm if you are activated. Due to operational needs you may not be chosen, for example we might have to ask a woman before a man because of co-ed requirements or we might choose an outfielder over an infielder but in general we will ask who ever has indicated. If you can’t spare, do the same and mark it on the game page.
WHAT’S Does #UNTIL2039 mean?
In 2012 Co -Captain Krystle went to Co-Captain Eric Delisle’s men’s competitive ONSPL game. The Hot Pockets were playing at Dumaurier West. Best I can figure it was August 13th, 2012.
A foul ball was hit, you know the spot , down the hill into that ditch area next to the parking lot. As Krystle went to fetch it she wandered past a table of men playing cards. The ball was retrieved and thrown in and one of the gentleman complimented her throw and asked if she wanted a beer.
She sat with them at their Costco fold up table, admiring the bottle of scotch on the table and trying to figure out what card game they were playing. Everyone introduced themselves and two brothers named Eric & Dave (clearly a sign) ran the team. The team had played before Eric’s game that night. The men mentioned they had all played together since high school! Everyone chatted and drank and it was interesting to see that they had done this for so many years.
She was inspired. She wanted to be drinking scotch and smoking cigars in a lotty after her games with SBW when she was an old man too. Eventually Eric’s game ended and he found her. She asked, if a team had been together since 85 , how many years would that be if our team stayed together, what year would we then play until?
Until 2039 he answered.
ps. if anyone knows what team it was that handed Krystle a beer and inspired us, please let me know…
IS IT A RAIN OUT?
Does it say on the schedule that the game is cancelled? No? Then it’s not a rain out! Always plan to play! Do not ask if it’s a rain out. If you have time to ask then you have time to review the website and our socials. No news = game on. If the League determines it’s a rain out our website will be updated first. Captains will review with the league before communicating to the team. The game could be cancelled, Postponed, diamond changed or otherwise.
First the website will be updated, after this, we will update our team socials. Then, we will post in a group chat(s) and reach out to individual players. If you’re not following us Instagram, Facebook and TikTok you may miss this announcement. Further to this ensure that website emails do not go to your junk mail. We are currently working on an update that like past years will ensure everyone who’s rsvp’d on the game page receives an automatic email.
The League will only call games up until as late as 5pm. Anything after that is umpire’s discretion. We aren’t able to answer your texts cause we are driving to the game. Captains, coaches and core members will not respond to text messages asking if it’s a rain out.
